This past May, Willdoo Education was thrilled to host an immersive summer camp for students in grades 6 to 8, running from May 6th to May 29th, 2024. This camp was crafted to introduce young learners to essential future skills, focusing on three critical areas: Digital Safety Awareness, Financial Literacy, and Hands-on AI Prompting. These courses were designed to equip students with the knowledge and tools they need to excel in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.
Cultivating Digital Safety Awareness
In our digitally driven world, understanding how to stay safe online is more important than ever. Our summer camp’s Digital Safety Awareness course provided students with the skills to navigate the internet securely. They learned to recognize potential online threats, protect their personal data, and adopt safe browsing habits. These lessons are crucial in helping students become informed and cautious digital citizens, capable of safeguarding their online presence.
Building a Foundation in Financial Literacy
Financial literacy is a vital skill that often goes under-taught in traditional education. During our camp, students engaged in a comprehensive Financial Literacy course that covered key concepts such as budgeting, saving, and understanding the value of money. Through interactive exercises and real-world scenarios, students developed a strong foundation in financial management, preparing them to make sound financial decisions as they grow.
Exploring Hands-on AI Prompting
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the world, and our Hands-on AI Prompting course ensured that students were not left behind. This course provided an engaging introduction to AI, focusing on how it works and its practical applications. Students were also guided on how to effectively interact with AI tools, including how to craft prompts in ChatGPT. By the end of the course, students gained not only an understanding of AI but also the ability to use it creatively and effectively in their daily lives.
