Unleashing Innovation: Design Thinking Workshop at MIT with Mr. Sankaranand

On February 28th, 2024, the Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology (MIT) campus was excited as students and faculty gathered for an enlightening Design Thinking workshop. This workshop aimed to foster creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills among the participants. The event was conducted in collaboration with Young Indians (YI), further enhancing the outreach and impact of the initiative.

Workshop Overview

Empathize:

  • Objective: Understand the users’ needs and challenges.
  • Activity: Interactive exercises focusing on active listening and user interviews. Participants practiced empathy by engaging in user-centric activities, helping them gain valuable insights into the users’ perspectives

Define:

    • Objective: Create clear and actionable problem statements.
    • Activity: Synthesize information and frame user-centric issues. Through collaborative efforts, attendees identified core issues and framed them in a clear and actionable manner.

 

Ideate:

    • Objective: Generate creative ideas to solve the defined problems.
    • Activity: Utilize mind mapping, sketching, and brainstorming techniques. Creativity took center stage as participants brainstormed a plethora of ideas, employing various techniques to unlock their innovative potential.

 

Prototype:

  • Objective: Build tangible representations of ideas.
  • Activity: Create low-fidelity prototypes that represent potential solutions. Participants engaged in hands-on activities, building early models to visualize and test their concepts.

 

Test:

  • Objective: Evaluate the prototypes with real users.
  • Activity: Gather feedback on the prototypes to refine solutions. Participants presented their prototypes and received constructive feedback, helping them improve the designs based on user responses.

 

Highlights

  • Interactive Learning: The workshop combined theory with practical exercises, ensuring comprehensive understanding and application.

The Design Thinking workshop at MIT, led by our COO Mr. Sankaranand and conducted in collaboration with YI, was a resounding success.
